COUNTY
San Diego County is huge.
A July 2008 estimate placed the population at 3,001,072 people, making it the third most populous county in California, just behind its northern neighbor Orange County. The population in 2009 was 3,054,796 making it the fifth most-populous county in the U.S. The county seat and largest city is San Diego. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 4,526 square miles,(11,721 km²). 4,200 sq mi (10,878 km²) of it is land and 326 sq mi (843 km²) of it (7.20%) is water.(wikipedia)

I have just touched on some of the tourist spots in San Diego. La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Coronado, Downtown, etc... But, there are many beach communities. Encinitas, Del Mar, La Costa, Solana Beach, Oceanside, Carlsbad and more. There is the huge area of North County. (Escondido, Poway ect) There is the huge East County. Communities like El Cajon, Spring Valley, La Mesa, Santee and many more. There are the interesting communities such as Hillcrest, Northpark and many other communities.

You can visit former Gold rush town JULIAN in the mountains. Go up and enjoy an apple pie! Which Julian is well known for as well as being a historical place. The Stage Coach used to stop there for crying out loud.

If you drive down the hill to the desert, (Anza Borrego Desert) there is a little county park that is a lot of fun. It is 111 miles from San Diego but still within' the county. If you like to camp, or just enjoy the hot springs. It is Agua Caliente County Park. Click the link for directions and more information.
(Hot Water Park) It is closed in the summer months and open Labor Day through May.
Open 9am to 5pm for day use. (to enjoy the springs) Campers have electrical hookups.

Plus all the communities near the border, Chula Vista, Bonita, Imperial Beach.
All have some outstanding qualities, most have fine public golf courses. There are some water parks here and there as well. Knott's Soak City in Chula Vista at 619-661-7373 and The Wave Waterpark in Vista (North County off the 78) 760 940-9283)
Pretty much whatever you are interested in you can find in San Diego County.
Enjoy!
